Grading list 2021/22

Some notes on this:- for the most part, regular grades are the same as the published list for 2020/21, but there were very few opportunities to use these. Allegro grades drop off the list after one season, so the allegro grades below in brackets are from the 2020/21 list. Where players have no allegro grade, it'll show the same as the regular grade. Some of the juniors achieved a new allegro grade by playing in the online tournaments organised by Lenzie.

Club restart

With the recent relaxation of Government guidelines, the club intends to restart on Monday 6th September at 7pm with the AGM, followed by a blitz tournament.

There will be a number of new measures in place. All those who attend will be asked to sign a register. Signing this register confirms that you are not suffering any of the symptoms of Coronavirus/Covid (these being a new persistent/dry cough, a fever, or a loss of sense of taste). Hand sanitiser will be available at the front door, and also in our room. Facemasks should be worn when moving around the Church, but are not required when playing. The windows will be opened to provide ventilation for the duration of the session regardless of the weather outside. The maximum number of people allowed in the room will be 24.

It's been a long time coming...looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Sun set

The sun sets over Stirling Chess Club - figuratively, but not literally. Our outdoor sessions continue, although won't last much longer as it's getting dark at 7pm, and our weekly online competition on lichess.org, with our friends from Stirling University, continue. It's still unclear when we might be allowed back into the Church, but it's unlikely to be anytime soon.

Outdoor Chess and a Beautiful Sunset

The outdoor chess continues. We're a serious lot - not easily distracted by beautiful sunsets...

Outdoor Chess

The outdoor chess continues. After one of the worst storms in living memory (and it seems Stirling may only have got the edge of it), it was a beautiful warm night in Kings Park. Thanks to all who turned out.
