Stirling Chess Club meets at Park Church (formerly St Columba's), Park Terrace, Stirling on a Monday night at 7pm. We welcome players of all ages and abilities. We field teams in the Central League, Central Allegro League, and the Scottish National League.
Congratulations to John Blake, winner of the Lindsay Cup! John's victory over Craig Manson is below - John had White.
While the club is officially closed for the summer, the outstanding games are gradually being played. The two games below are between Martyn Roe and John Blake. The first game ended up a draw, so the tie was replayed with the colours reversed. In the first game, John had White and Martyn had Black.
In the replay, Martyn has White and John has Black.
This means the final is between John Blake and Craig Manson. Good luck to both!
Congratulations to Paul Prescott, winner of the Richardson Cup (club championship) for the seventh consecutive season, with an unbeaten 5½/6.
In the only other decided competition, congratulations go to Bill Cook for winning the season long quickplay all-play-all with 8½/9.
Still undecided are the Thornton Cup and the Lindsay Cup. The Thornton Cup final is between David Brodie and Martyn Roe. The Lindsay Cup final is between Craig Manson and the winner of the John Blake-Martyn Roe semi-final. These outstanding games will hopefully be completed as soon as possible.
The club has now finished for the summer. We're due back on the first Monday in September (the 2nd) for the AGM and the subsequent 5 minute allegro tournament. Have a good summer!
