The Lindsay Cup starts Monday 7 January 2013, and the matches in the group stages are to be completed by Monday 15 April 2013. Players to arrange dates by mutual agreement – please consult the club schedule showing available evenings. Colours as indicated in the horizontal lines.
Time control: 36 moves in one hour 12 minutes, followed by an allegro finish of 15 minutes each. All games played at this time control will be submitted for grading.
In the event of any two-way ties in the qualifying places, the winner of the individual game between the players in question will take precedence. If the individual game was drawn, a second game will be played at the original rate, colours reversed. If further replays are needed they will be at the rate of 30 minutes each for all moves, colours alternating. In the event of a three-way (or more) tie, the placings will be decided by a mini-tournament at the rate of 30 minutes per player per game.
Semi-finals: winner of Group A plays runner-up in Group B; winner of Group B plays runner-up in Group A. In each semi-final the group winner has choice of colour. If a semi-final is drawn, a second game will be played at the original rate with colours reversed. Further replays will be played at 30 minutes each for all moves, colours alternating.
In the final, the players will draw lots for colours. The winner qualifies for next season's Richardson Cup.
The competition secretary is Dave Hewitt, and his decision in competition-related matters is final.
